Your circumstances might change and you might want to become a director or involved in the management of a business again sometime in the future.

If that is the case you will either have to wait for the period of disqualification to expire, or make an application to court for permission to become a director. Two things are important:

  1. The longer the disqualification period, the longer you will have to wait for it to expire and the more serious the disqualification will impact you personally.
  2. The longer the disqualification period, the more difficult it is to obtain permission from the court to become a director despite disqualification (although not impossible).

Trying to minimise the period of disqualification always makes sense.
